Getting Started with Ledger Live

Ledger Live is the official app for managing your Ledger hardware device. It allows you to securely monitor your cryptocurrency accounts, install apps, and update your device firmware with ease.

This guide will walk you through each step, ensuring a smooth and secure setup process for your Ledger device.

Step 1: Download Ledger Live

Visit the official Ledger website and download the latest Ledger Live application for your operating system. Avoid third-party downloads to keep your funds secure.

Tip: Always verify the download signature to ensure authenticity.

Step 2: Initialize Your Ledger Device

Connect your Ledger device to your computer. The device will guide you through:

Creating a secure PIN code
Writing down your recovery phrase (very important!)
Confirming your recovery phrase on the device

Note: Never share your recovery phrase with anyone. Ledger will never ask for it.

Step 3: Connect Ledger Live

Open Ledger Live and choose Get Started. Connect your device and select Initialize as new device if your Ledger is new, or Restore from recovery phrase if you already have an existing account.

Step 4: Install Apps

Ledger devices support multiple cryptocurrency apps. To install apps:

Open Ledger Live and go to Manager.
Authorize your device.
Select the cryptocurrency apps you want to install.

Tip: You can uninstall apps anytime; this does not affect your funds.

Step 5: Add Accounts

Once apps are installed, go to Accounts → Add account in Ledger Live. This will allow you to track balances and send/receive crypto securely.

Step 6: Security Best Practices

Enhance your security by following these steps:

Enable a strong PIN and change it regularly
Store your recovery phrase offline in a safe location
Update Ledger Live and device firmware promptly

Tip: Use a hardware wallet instead of software wallets for maximum security.
